Transparent performance with Promyde®

Low crystallization temperature copolyamides

Films manufactured with standard PA6 often have a hazy appearance due to the semicrystalline nature of PA6 and its rapid crystallization rate, this problem frequently occurs in films made in blown extrusion.

NUREL introduces Promyde BF933 and Promyde BF940 that thanks to its lower temperature and speed of crystallization allow to obtain films with an unique transparency and gloss.

Due to its improved breaking deformation, these copolyamides are the best choice for demanding thermoforming applications such as deep thermoforming.

Due to their low crystallization temperature, Promyde BF933 and Promyde BF940 also avoid the formation of curling in non-symmetrical multilayer films.

Promyde® barrier solutions

Copolyamides to improve O2 barrier and CO2 permeability

Polyamides are used on the packaging industy for their mechanical properties, such as tear and puncture resistance; and barrier advantages. NUREL, is now introducing two new breakingthough solutions to modify the barrier properties of polyamides. Promyde BF740 is a new developped copolyamide to improve oxygen barrier and Promyde BF640 formulated with an enhanced CO2 permeability.

Promyde BF740 has been specifically designed for packaging solutions that require oxygen barrier to preserve food. By using BF740 the polyamide layer thickness will be reduced mantaining oxygen permeability, in some appliactions EVOH use can be avoided,  resulting in lighter and more cost efficient packagings. Unlike traditional polyamides, BF740 preserves its oxygen barrier even under high environmental humidity conditions,  being a highly valued solution for containers that undergo pasteurization processes or that are destined to high humidity geographical areas.

Promyde BF640 is the material of choice for premium mature cheese packaging that support product’s ripening process. Thanks to its modified CO2 permeability, films made of our copolyamide BF640 allows the release of maturing cheese gasses.

Aditionally this two copolyamides have a low melt temperature that allows sealing.

Promyde® sealing polyamides

Low melting temperature copolyamides

Most packaging solutions require of the combination several polymers in order to achive the necessary technical requirements. In coextrusion films polyamides are used for their mechanical and barrier properties, and it is normally used in combination with polyethylene for its sealing properties. Nowadays this kind of packaging will become obsolete as they are not sustainable: they cannot be recycled. 

Promyde® , now offer a new technical solution: Promyde BF740 and Promyde BF640seleable copolyamides that thanks to their lower melting temperature can be sealed from 115ºC to 160ºC. These new products bring to the market the posibility to create monomaterial packaging solutions with main polyamide advantages.

Promyde® low curling grades

New copolyamides for asymmetric multilayer films

This new development offers a polymer whose properties reduce curling in polyethylene-polyamide coextrusion, thus saving the hot water bath after treatment.

Curling is a recurring problem in PA / PE asymmetric film extrusions. The curved films have difficulty to be wound, printed or thermoformed correctly.

Curling problems are due to a different solidification temperature between polyamide and polyethylene. This problem can be avoided thanks to our new development offering a range of copolyamides, Promyde BF940 and Promyde BF740, with a crystallization and fusion temperature closer to polyethylene.

Shelf life extend: Active packaging

Promyde® antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in polymers

Promyde® present this innovation that will extend the shelf life of packed food. Our Active Packaging Technology consists of incorporating encapsulated active principles in to the polymer matrix in order to provide antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

The active principles are released outside the capsules by a controlled diffusion method (pressure difference inside/outside the capsule); while gas-phase radicals permeate through the layer containing capsules, and are stabilized by the active principles.

The antioxidant and antimicrobial active principles are based on natural essential oils. These principles are active at vapour phase thus direct contact with food is not required, being the perfect solution for MAP food trays.

Our Active Packaging Technology can also be applied to any other polymer bases.
